The same here. There really seems like nothing as good as GW out there.

Already forgotten about the Deldrimor Weapons? The Zaishen Title Track? Or are you only counting new PvE content like Sorrow's Furnace as 'new'?

Or with the same payment structure where you pay upfront and then no monthly fees.

Why does it matter? Even if GW does die out for most players, once anet releases gw2 everyone will be interested again. Anet doesn't need people playing GW till GW2 comes out. I'm pretty much done playing doom 3, but that doesn't mean I won't be interested in doom 4 when it comes out. Just be patient and find other things to do while anet is working on gw2.

And on a side note, people need to stop speculating on what GW2 is going to be when no one has played it. We don't need people saying "gw2 sucks cause it will be like wow, i wont buy it" because you have no clue what the game is going to be like. It could be a complete disaster, or it could be one of the greatest mmo's, no one really knows. And can people please stop making these threads.

Think about how long GW1 took to develop. If Anet had EA as a publisher they'd be done by the beginning of 2009, but they have NC Soft as a publisher instead, and the priorities of NC Soft cater to a very different market.

...You have got to be kidding!

Do you realize how many studios EA has put out of business?

I don't know, over 9000?

Yet EA, or NCSoft: It'll be done when it's done.

I think there is a type of gamer who likes GW, most of the people I know who are gamers and that dabbled with GW have not remained playing GW for very long. The ones who have been playing GW are quite dedicated to the game. I think that GW2 has to be very similar to GW in order to keep their current type of player. From the little bit of information that they did release, I would suggest they will maybe attract a slightly different player. There are a lot of good things about GW and some really stupid things. I wonder how many people who play multiple characters complete all the quests on all their characters. I hope they do fix a lot of the irritating things like when it pays not to complete a quest because it is easier to grind a title that way in order to increase the worth of a skill. The ridiculous cost and resale value of weapons which are by and large vanilla. Most people could run around with inappropriate weapons and the monsters would not know the difference.

StarCraft came out years ago and StarCraft 2 will clearly not fail.

GuildWars 2 will be fine.

With that in mind, we will not start beta testing in 2008 as we had originally planned. Guild Wars 2 is a very large and ambitious game, and Guild Wars players rightfully have very high expectations of its quality. We want players to be absolutely blown away by the game the first time they experience it.

Thus indicates beta will not be out until 2009 at the earliest...
have to love the fact it says "the first time they experience it".
they don't care about what we think the second time.

I know how you feel. I'm not a patient person, and I'm growing more and more bored of the game since I've done practically everything I can (except HM but I hate it and will only do it if someone experienced goes with me). I can't wait for Guild Wars 2 and a fresh start, a change of pace...

I'm willing to wait for it but I do wish it would come out sooner. Was looking forward to the beta later this year, but it said that it will be out in 2009 closer to the game's release date. So hopefully it will be worth it.

I intend to buy the game either way, but I have to get a new computer beforehand so this will give me time to do so. And I do hope they keep their promise of a no-monthly-fee thing. The reason I don't play WOW is because of the monthly fee. It's a waste of money by far plus the game sucks. But I won't go into that here. hehe

Anyway, as long as they keep the no monthly fee policy I'm going to buy the game regardless of when it comes out. There are no other games that will interest me between now and then, I know that. For one, my computer won't handle them, and two I'd rather save my money for a game I know I'll want, play, and enjoy.

So in answer to the topic, Guild Wars two may be coming later than expected but not too late for me. Just too slow.

As long as many players are still playing GW it will be fine. Only if ANet waits very long the GW players may drop GW and be less interested in GW2.

But anyways, I think GW2 will be a success in terms of player base. It promises to be a broad MMO and the no-timely-fees policy will always bring in many players.

early 2010 means late 2010 in most cases

As long as GW2 is a good game when it is released it will not be too late. I would just like some new info on it.

Some change is good some is bad, some of the community is gone but that doesent phase me, personally i expect GW2 to only go beta in 2010 so im in no rush, just waiting for them to make an amazing game and while i wait i slowly fill my HoM.
I still expect 1/2 of the GW community to be around for GW2

Why is everyone saying/thinking that the beta and release won't be until 2010 or even later? They said next year, which is 2009. Did I miss something? I hope they don't wait that long, I'll die of boredom...

Yeah, it'll be 2009 very probably, don't listen to the crap that some trolls say here. On the other hand, it'd be interesting to know if external alphas are about to start...
